biography
Kristin is a partner at LaPolt Law with over a decade of experience representing music creators and music industry executives. Kristin advises clients on and negotiates a wide array of entertainment and business transactions, including intellectual property and asset sales and music industry executive employment agreements. She has also become versed in the legal aspects of live musical productions and the world of Broadway, including the licensing of underlying rights and creator collaboration deals.
Kristin’s practice focuses on advocacy and legislative change in favor of creators. Soon after joining LaPolt Law, Kristin found herself immersed in the final revisions and eventual historical passing of the Orrin G. Hatch—Bob Goodlatte Music Modernization Act, a huge win under U.S. Copyright Law for songwriters and artists!
Prior to joining LaPolt Law, Kristin was an associate at a boutique law firm in Beverly Hills and Century City where she gained significant experience in the music publishing area administering clients’ song catalogs and working closely with songwriters and publishers, the protection of creators’ rights and the continuously changing landscape of the exploitations of such rights.
Kristin has also worked in various areas of the entertainment industry, including production coordination on a small independent film and management and public relations for celebrities and artists where, among other matters, she assisted in development and pre-production for a live stage musical based on the Gamble & Huff music catalog.
